Enlarged print: an original
photograph produced
by projecting light through a negative (by means of an enlarger) onto photosensitive
paper. The resulting image is larger than the negative and can lose
clarity in the process. Enlarging was uncommon until the advent of developing-out
paper which started to replace printing-out paper in the early 1890's. To
our knowledge, Huffman produced no enlarged prints until after 1900
and we know he used printing-out paper for at least some of his work until
1905 - 06. By the 1920's, virtually all of his effort was spent producing
enlarged photos, many of them beautifully hand-colored. |
